It seems like everyone has been pleading for fall since the beginning of August, but I’m a summer girl through and through. The world gets so overgrown with green that I can’t help but marvel at the trees and the weeds in my backyard, consuming my peripherals while driving down backroads. I feel like I’m in Tuck Everlasting or The Secret Garden.
People are away and the world slows down a bit, there’s a quiet and a calm. I can throw my garage door open, bask in some solitude, and see my ideas slowly come to life. (Okay, this is a romanticization and it can get super hot in the studio and I need to figure out a better solution than a little box fan). But if we can’t look back on the previous season and let the hard things soften around the edges and woo ourselves with life’s highlights, then what’s the point?
Here’s a recap of art-stuff from summertime.

In the making
I’m deep in the process of working on my reimagined Step & Repeat sculpture. I have so many ideas for so many pieces, but I really want to focus down and get this one made. (I also can’t really work on side projects since my workbench has been absolutely covered with bits-and-bobs for this piece).
